Wow,  Hey everyone how are we all doing?  I can't believe that the last time I did a book review was in July, that's so crazy! I used to post one or two up nearly every month!  Life has been so busy recently, what with my new job, the cakes, college and all the crochet I've got to do, there's just so much for me to do and I hardly have the time to do it, do you ever feel like that too?  I promise that there will be a book review up soon, certainly before the end of the year. I think that I won't be beating my 2014 reading challenge this year for sure, and I know for a fact that I haven't logged onto Goodreads in so long, I don't even know what my last read was!  Thank you to everyone who has still been coming onto the blog, either to see updates, read past reviews (I hope they help in your choice of reading, let me know!) or whether you're just passing by, you're always welcome! I've not been every well over these past ...

Long time no speak

Image
Morning all,  how are we all doing?  Just a quick one to say Hi, and that I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth and that I am intact still alive and well!  I have been so busy over the past few months, I don't know where to start! I haven't read so much which I am gutted about, I've got about 5 blankets to make and only just nearly finished one for next month - ahh! I also have been so quiet on my cake page which I am not too happy about either.  In-between doing all this, I've been visiting family members, looking after family (my dad recently had a sinus operation so he's not been too great, but is slowly not he mend now) Looking for jobs, going to interviews, going to college and catching up with said college coursework!  It's been hectic! But hopefully I will be able to relax a bit soon and get some reviews up! I'm halfway though The Mortal Instruments: City of Glass, which I can't wait to get ba...

April Update - "Where have you been!"

Image
Hey everyone!  Long time no speak, how are we all? Good I hope?  It's just a quick post to say what has been happening lately! So, so start with, I'm sorry that I haven't been posting anything recently, I've been tied up with the Cake page -  Sprinkles, Sparkle & Magic  That I haven't been reading in a while, wait! I have before everyone panic's haha  I've been doing a little bit of reading now and then, I'm currently reading about 4-5 books, simply because I can't make my mind up on what genre to read and what mood I'm in. Since it's getting into the summer, I want to go straight to my chicklit's and summer romances, as you know! If you have been following this blog for a while, there's a certain way in which I go through my books haha.  The books that I have been currently reading (Or that are on my Goodreads 'currently reading' shelf are as follows:  1.  The Yard  by  Alex Grecian   2. Tigers In ...

WE'VE HIT 15,000 VIEWS!! Hey everyone! So I've just logged on again to write another book review and I am amazed! So it states in the title, the book blog has reached 15,000 views! WOW Thank you so much! I know some people might think it's not a lot, and yeah I know that it does count for all the views since I started to blog back in 2010. But it means so much to me to have that many! So you all may look at a lovely picture of Venice, why Venice you ask?  Why,  because that's where I'm going for my 21st with Sam! And it's going to be epic! I can't wait to go back there, I love it so much :D *Squeals with excitement*  Hope you are all having a fantastic day and a wonderful week so far!  Don't worry, you only have one more day left then it's the weekend! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!  Happy reading! xxx

Book Haul! - Late Update

Image
Old and New Book Haul! Afternoon everyone! Hope you are all well?  I thought I would do a little book haul seeing as I haven't done one in a while.  Some are quite old and I got them a while ago, but I will let you know a bit about them :)  The first three at the top are all 'adopted' books that I got from Sam's older brother Craig :) He was getting rid of loads of books that he didn't want anymore and that he had already read so he just asked if I wanted to have any and I got to go through a massive box and pulled the top three beauties out :) With recommendations from Craig too!  How to be Good by Nick Hornby -  Katie Carr is certainly  trying  to be. That's why she became a GP. That's why she cares about Third World debt and homelessness, and struggles to raise her children with a conscience. It's also why she puts up with her husband David, the self-styled Angriest Man in Holloway. But one fateful day, she finds her...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Ahh it's a New Year! Happy 2015 everyone! Sorry it's a bit late, been  rushed off my feet, what with Christmas, New Year, meeting friends and family and sorting out the cake blog as well as the cake Facebook page. Phew! What a lot to go on! 2014 - What a year it was, had many ups and downs but it was worth every moment. Sam conquered his problems with his wrists and is now getting better with Guitar and playing, he's hoping to start a new band this year too which is excellent, very proud of him!  Alzheimer's Memory Walk - Sam and I did the memory walk for Alzheimer's and we raised £125.50! I am very happy with this and plan to raise more money this year! It was such a great day and the amount of people that turned up was wonderful! Enjoyed every minute of it and was so happy and pleased how well it turned out and to everyone who donated - THANK YOU SO MUCH, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!  Sprinkle, Sparkle and M...

October Update!

Image
Hi Everyone!!  How are we all doing this afternoon?  I'm terribly sorry I've not been updating in a while, I can assure you that I have still been reading, just not been updating! I have been keeping up to date with my cake page which we are on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  Facebook: Search for Sprinkle, Sparkle and Magic Twitter: Search for @SSMCakes Instagram: Search for Sprinklesparkleandmagic We have this logo!  Please see the links for all the above if you wish to have a look, I do have a blog for it but it's not quite finished yet. Which is on my to do list!  A lot has been happening this month and some of it has been pretty rubbish to be honest. I will start with the good though! I don't know if I told you, but I recently started college! I am studying Level 1 cake decorating and loving every minute of it, it's great! I'm only there for one day but it's awesome. I've also been searching for jobs on the jo...

July Update

Image
Hey everyone!  How are you all doing?  Just a quick update to say what has been happening recently, and I feel I owe an update seeing as I haven't done one in a while and just been posing book reviews, let, right and centre. But that's a good thing I guess! Haha  I recently took a little trip to The Works, an amazing cheap bookstore (for those of you if you don't have one near you) And I picked up some books for £5 - Such a bargain!  (Again if you don't know about The Works, it's simple - Books are £1.99 each or 3 for £5!) Once again, such a bargain!! So I picked up the three books below, some of which I've been wanting for a while.  So I got...  Miranda's Big Mistake * Jill Mansell -  Miranda is overjoyed when she meets Greg at a cocktail party. Greg is handsome and funny, but he has not told Miranda everything about himself, such as the pregnant wife he has just abandoned. From the author of PERFECT TI...

Afternoon everyone!  Hope you are all feeling well, is it hot where you are? It's boiling over here, well it's very humid and sunny but it's lovely! nice day to get out into the garden with a good book and some sunshine :)  Just a little update for this month seeing as I haven't done one in a while. I've written quite a few book reviews though, which is good and I'm really happy about :D  As you can see with the above pictures, I have managed to grab hold of two new books! I finally used one of my Waterstones giftcard's and managed to get these two lovely books for about £2. I have also found out that I can now use a giftcard at Waterstones to buy books with it that are also on the Buy one get one half price offer which I am really happy about! (I didn't know you could do it you see, as some stores are funny with buying things on a giftcard if it is in a sale)  Love, Nina - I loved the look of this book and thought it had qui...

Happy New Year! 2014

Image
Happy New Year all!  Hope everyone is fine and dandy and going through their first month of 2014 with ease. My New Year was a great one of what I can remember of it. I spent it with Sam which was lovely and also got to spend Christmas with him also as didn't get to last year. So technically it's like our first Christmas.  Got lots of plans for this year so may get a little quiet at some point, plan to get on with my writing more and try to get a book written. I will all be getting ready for a crafts fair to do with mum next year which will be lovely to do! If anyone has done any craft fairs in the past, please let me know you're experiences so I can be prepared! Going on quite a few trips this year, so there will be plenty of reading to be done and lots of reviews. I'm also going to start doing some cake decorating classes as well so that should be fun! I don't know how many people read this but I do love writing the posts, and I just love havin...

November Update

Image
Hey all! Hope your all well and keeping warm this coming winter, it's getting chilly up here now (Don't know where you all are, but wrap up and get a book going!) I know I haven't posted on here in a while, which I'm sorry for, it's taking me ages to read the book I'm reading at the moment, loving it to pieces. It's just trying to find the time, with work, family and my driving lessons and theory. Don't worry, I'll let you all know when I finally pass haha.  I have LOADS of books that I still need to read and every day I find a new one I want to read, it's much easier having a Kobo as I have all the books with me and it's lighter, though it's still not the same as going out and buying a new book (something I still do though!)  Anyway, just wanted to say and make a note of the amazing backgrounds and layouts this lovely lady does above. There so beautiful and there's a layout for everything and it's where I have go...

October Update

Image
Hey there everyone! Thought I would do a Short update seeing as I haven't done one in a while. I have still got LOADS of books to read, both on the shelves and on the kobo so I need to get reading haha. I am only two books away from my 2013 goal this year! Hope to add an extra one onto the 14!! I have recently posted two book reviews which I'm chuffed about, and also I have changed the background to make it more Octobery (I know that's not a word haha) But I'm loving the vintage Halloween style :) Then it will be changing again soon to Christmas! Oh how this year has flown by! I'll be reading some horror books or Halloween ones this month (If I can get into the horror ones that is) So wish me luck! Don't want to be scared! If you have any recommendations, please fire away in the comments box, all would be appreciated! On another note, it may quieten down a but on here as I have this lovely book to study upon!... That's right I...

March Update

Image
Hello, So I thought I would do a recent update to tell you what's been going on recently other than reading and also the new books that I have got.  I'm still, sadly at college and still studying music, though I'm sad to say that I hate it very much with a passion. Which is weird cause I used to love music so much, well, I still love music it's just this year. Even learning it last year was great and I really enjoyed it, but this year we have a new teacher and to be honest, he just doesn't know what he's doing half of the time.  I wish I never went back on this year, so now I'm slowly trying to find a job. And if your from England, you all know what's happening at the moment with jobs and trying to get your hands on one. All thanks to good old Mr. Cameron.  In good news I am going to Jess's 18th this weekend which will be wonderful catching up with the girls again for a nice meal, and then Sam has his gig on Sunday which will b...

June Update

Image
Hey everyone!  I thought I would do an update since I haven't done one in a very long time. So I thought I would share with you some new books I have recently bought, and I know that I keep buying them and saying I won't buy anymore, but I promise I've stopped now until I've read all the ones that need reading haha.  So the total price of all these books should of come too... £45.94 though I got them all for £7.47 How good is that! I picked them up various places such as charities and The Works. If you haven't been to The Works recently, you should get down there, as there's some great books on offer!  Most of the books have been bought down in Skegness from a couple of weeks ago, and we're found in various charity shops. Some of the other books we're found at The Works in Rotherham. I went down there with the boyfriend to see his mum for a week. I had a lovely time, and honestly I couldn't stop myself from buying books, in the end he decid...

Upcoming news

Image
Hey guys! So I thought I would do a quick blog to tell you that I have some new books. I should really stop buying them, since I have so many to read now, it's unbelievable! But I just can't stop myself. Do you like the change of background? I made it all Christmassy and stuff with Santa :) Who's looking forward to Christmas? I sure am! I recently finished a book review on Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick, which was an amazing read and I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the 4th one. But onto the important things, I have four new books to show you! How exciting. And here they are, ta-da! So we have 3 Christmas books and just one normal book. I had been wanting Midnight by Josephine Cox for a while now, but it was too much for me to pay, since I could probably spend the money on some DVDs or Cd's, so I decided to wait for a while to see if the price would go down. And to my surprise, when I was working on my xmas temp job at Birthdays I popped to The Works ...
